The centre aims to give parents the opportunity to participate in their child's care and education.
It is essential that parents to play an active role in the day to day running of the centre. Remember Maroubra Neighbourhood Children's Centre is YOUR Centre and you should feel free to approach us and discuss your child's progress or volunteer to help in some way.
The Centre is a community based, not-for-profit cooperative, which means that it is owned by the parents of the children attending the Centre. All income goes back into providing the best possible care and facilities for children at the Centre.
A parent’s committee, elected annually, oversees management of the Centre. The Committee meets once a month at a mutually agreed time and place. All parents are required to attend at least three parent meetings over a year. Parental involvement in all aspects of the Centre is essential.
There are many opportunities to get involved - from reading stories and playing instruments with the children, fundraising, helping prepare for fundraising events, working bees, picking up and delivering required items for the centre, offering or volunteering your expertise ie. plumbing, electricians, proofreading, professional advice etc. We request that families attend or participate in at least three of these activities throughout the year.
Successful running of the Centre depends on the support and interest of all parents.
We welcome your involvement.
